A 13 year old boy named Declan Shanley from Summerston, Glasgow, had gone to the aid of a friend, who had fallen into deep water.

The boy was able to swim back to shore and look for help, but unfortunately Declan was pronounced dead later in hospital after being rescued from the water. It was thought that the incident occurred round about 6:30PM on Saturday.

Declan's parents said that he was a very brave boy, who put his life at risk trying to save his friend.
